Quantity might not be there for this 2013 vintage, yet, this Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vieilles Vignes quality is exceptional! The different varietals forming this cuvée - 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 5% Cinsault and 5% Mourvèdre - give it a bright and dark garnet red robe, with purple glints. On the nose, it expresses the terroir with nobility, in a very classic style of the old Grenache vineyards through vanilla-flavoured, black olive, violet, cherry and spicy aromas. On the palate, this Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2013 is mellow and thick on present yet elegant tannins.

Wine Advocate-Parker :
Checking in as a final blend of 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah and 5% each of Cinsault and Mourvedre, the 2013 Chateauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes reveals a deep ruby color to go with classic southern Rhone notes of garrigue, black licorice, roasted herbs, sweet currants and black cherry-like fruit. Medium to full-bodied, supple, nicely concentrated (especially in the vintage) and with ripe tannin, it's a rock solid 2013 that will be better in 2-3 years and drink well through 2028.
