Tasting characteristics and advice for Ridge Vineyards Estate Chardonnay 2023
Tasting

Apple, brioche, and vanilla blend harmoniously on the nose.
Palate
The palate charms with citrus and pear aromas, along with freshness and a lingering finish.
A lively, fruity Californian white wine
The estate
In 1885, Dr. Osea Perrone, a pioneer at heart, acquired land in the Dry Creek Valley area and planted vines on clay-limestone soils. The first vintage was produced in 1892. In 1959, the estate was purchased and renamed “Ridge Vineyards” in 1962. Under the impetus of California winemaker Paul Draper, the vineyard expanded and became a benchmark among great Californian wines. Ridge Vineyards cultivates an exceptional vineyard using organic farming, renowned for the quality of its non-interventionist winemaking that showcases the purest expression of the fruit.
The wine
Estate Chardonnay from Ridge Vineyards is a Californian wine crafted from vineyards with clay-limestone soils located in the Santa Cruz Mountains appellation.
Winemaking and aging
Hand-harvested. Whole-cluster pressing before barrel fermentation (alcoholic and malolactic) with native yeasts. Aged for 15 months in barrels, 15% new (85% American, 15% French), with the remainder in previously used barrels (one to four fills).
