Description
Characteristics and Tasting Notes of the Meursault Village "Les Clousots" 2022 Patrick Javillier
Tasting
Colour
The colour reveals a lovely pale straw hue, of light to medium intensity.
Nose
Wonderfully pure, the nose expresses aromas of white fruits such as pear and white peach, nuanced with light touches of exotic fruit. The whole is elevated by floral notes of lemon blossom and almond blossom, along with a subtle peppery minerality.
Palate
The attack is round and fresh, carried by lovely liveliness. The palate offers a buttery yet precise texture, revealing remarkable mineral tension. The long, saline finish attests to this wine's fine persistence.
Food and wine pairing
This white wine pairs beautifully with seafood such as scallops in béchamel sauce or pan-seared oysters. It also enhances delicate fish such as grilled trout with almonds, as well as white meats and poultry in cream and mushroom sauce. Finally, it will perfectly accompany a buttery risotto or soft-rind cheeses such as brie or Époisses.
Service and storage
Approachable even in its youth for its fruity aromas, this Meursault Village "Les Clousots" 2022 also possesses excellent ageing potential. It will be at its best enjoyed between approximately 2027 and 2032.

The estate
Founded in 1945 by Raymond Javillier with just two hectares of vines, Domaine Patrick Javillier is an essential reference located at the heart of Meursault, in Burgundy. Following the remarkable expansion led by Patrick from 1974 onwards, the estate now spans approximately eleven hectares. Today, the domaine is run by his daughter, Marion Javillier, alongside Pierre-Emmanuel Lamy, who oversees the vineyard and the winemaking of the whites. True to its singular philosophy, in which the blending of complementary terroirs elevates the wine, the family continues a tradition of excellence.
The vineyard
The cuvée comes from the meticulous blend of two complementary named plots located within the Meursault appellation. The majority of the blend (60%) comes from the "Les Clous" plot, nestled at the top of the slopes with an east-facing exposure and deep clay soil over a limestone base. The remaining 40% comes from "Crotots", a vineyard located mid-slope on clay-limestone soils. The domaine practises sustainable viticulture there, with simple Guyot pruning and rigorous bud thinning to ensure the quality of the grapes.
The vintage
2022 was marked by particularly hot and dry weather conditions. Despite these exceptional summer temperatures, timely rainfall in mid-August allowed the vines to cool down and continue their ripening cycle peacefully. The two weeks preceding the harvest, marked by dry and windy weather, ensured perfect sanitary condition of the berries.
Winemaking and ageing
After manual harvesting and meticulous sorting in the vineyard, the grapes of the Meursault Village "Les Clousots" 2022 are gently pressed using a pneumatic press. The must then ferments in oak barrels (of which 25 to 30% are new wood) through the action of indigenous yeasts. Once malolactic fermentation is complete, the wine benefits from sixteen to eighteen months of ageing on fine lees, accompanied by regular lees stirring. The final blend sometimes rests for a few months in concrete tanks before bottling.
