Description
Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Bourgogne Blanc "Cuvée de Forgets" 2022 Patrick Javillier
Tasting
Colour
The colour reveals a beautiful straw-yellow hue with a remarkable consistency.
Nose
Particularly expressive, the nose exudes seductive aromas of white and yellow fruits, harmoniously blended with notes of white flowers such as jasmine and elderflower. A subtle spicy, toasted touch rounds out this bouquet.
Palate
Full-bodied and built on a fine balance, the palate charms with its natural roundness and delicately creamy texture. A linear freshness stretches through the finish, bringing great vivacity to the whole tasting experience.
Food Pairing
This white wine pairs perfectly with vegetable-stuffed ravioli. It also goes wonderfully with creamed poultry, roast chicken, white fish in sauce, pan-seared scallops, mushroom risotto, or soft, matured cheeses such as brie and camembert.
Serving and Cellaring
To fully appreciate this Bourgogne Blanc "Cuvée de Forgets" 2022, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 11 and 13°C. Decanting for fifteen to thirty minutes before tasting is advised to release all its aromatic complexity.
The Authentic Expression of a Great Terroir by Domaine Patrick Javillier
The Estate
Founded in 1945 by Raymond Javillier upon his return from the war, Domaine Patrick Javillier has established itself as an essential reference in Burgundy. Located in the heart of Meursault, the estate spans eleven hectares of vines. Today, Patrick Javillier still runs the domaine, supported by the third generation: his daughter Marion, who oversees the red wines and commercial development, and his son-in-law Pierre-Emmanuel Lamy, who is responsible for the vineyard and the making of the white wines. The estate stands out for its rigorous philosophy combining respect for the terroir with technical precision.
The Vineyard
The vineyard from which this Bourgogne wine originates lies on the prestigious Côte de Beaune. The estate cultivates its vines according to the principles of sustainable farming, carefully adapting canopy management practices such as debudding, shoot positioning, and trimming to the specific needs of each plot. The deep, predominantly clay soils provide an ideal medium for revealing the full richness and elegance of this terroir.
The Vintage
The year 2022 began with a mild, dry winter, encouraging an early start to the vine's growth cycle. Despite a frost alert in early April, damage to the vineyard remained very limited. The harvest, which took place from late August to the third week of September, benefited from mild conditions that allowed for the picking of remarkably high-quality grapes.
Winemaking and Ageing
The grapes destined for the Bourgogne Blanc "Cuvée de Forgets" 2022 are rigorously sorted in the vineyard before undergoing gentle pneumatic pressing. Alcoholic fermentation occurs naturally through indigenous yeasts, followed by a complete malolactic fermentation. The wine is then aged in oak barrels for sixteen to eighteen months, with a carefully adjusted proportion of new wood. It is bottled at the estate with minimal intervention, limiting fining and filtration to preserve its full authenticity.
