Description
Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru "Les Feusselottes" 2022 Méo-Camuzet Frère & Soeurs
Tasting
Colour
The colour reveals a ruby red hue of beautiful depth, both clear and brilliant.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet, remarkably clear, gradually opens onto notes of red and black fruits such as cherry and plum. It is then enriched with floral nuances reminiscent of potpourri and sandalwood, underscored by delicate touches of spice and vanilla.
Palate
The attack is round, ripe and thoroughly smooth. The mid-palate offers remarkable density without any heaviness, supported by silky, caressing tannins. The finish, beautifully long, stands out for its mineral dimension and subtle salinity.
Food and Wine Pairing
This red wine pairs perfectly with refined cuisine, particularly poultry, young pigeon or herb-infused red meats served with light sauces. It will also enhance moderately mature cheeses or blue-veined cheeses.
Service and Storage
To fully appreciate this Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru "Les Feusselottes" 2022, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 16 and 17°C, after decanting for one to two hours. This wine will begin to reveal its full potential around 2026 and can be cellared until approximately 2047, or even beyond for bottles stored under optimal conditions.
Other Characteristics
In order to preserve the full extent of its complexity, this wine is bottled without fining or filtration, which may result in a slight natural sediment.
The Mineral Elegance and Complexity of a Chambolle-Musigny Wine
The Estate
Founded in the early 20th century by Étienne Camuzet, the family estate is now run by Jean-Nicolas Méo. Located in Burgundy, France, the estate spans approximately 17 hectares of prestigious terroirs. To meet strong demand while maintaining its commitment to quality, the négociant house Méo-Camuzet Frère & Soeurs was established in 1999. Cultivating its vines according to principles close to organic farming, the estate stands out for its philosophy of minimal intervention and rigorously controlled yields, producing wines that combine concentration and finesse.
The Vineyard
Located in the heart of the Chambolle-Musigny appellation, the "Les Feusselottes" climat takes its name from its topography, which forms a small natural depression. This distinctive terroir is characterised by shallow soils, around forty to fifty centimetres deep, composed of red silt resting on a limestone base. This geological configuration, combined with a partially north-facing exposure, gives the grapes a subtle minerality and remarkable aromatic purity.
The Vintage
The year 2022 began with a mild, dry winter leading to early budbreak, followed by frost episodes in early April from which the vines recovered well. The warm spring encouraged rapid flowering in mid-May. Summer was marked by drought and four heatwaves, but timely rainfall at the end of June and in mid-August allowed the berries to reach optimal ripeness and fine balance ahead of a harvest that extended into the third week of September.
Winemaking and Aging
The grapes for this Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru "Les Feusselottes" 2022 were hand-harvested around September 7th. After careful sorting, the harvest was 100% destemmed before fermentation under controlled temperature, favouring gentle extraction through measured pumping-over and punching-down. Aging took place over twelve months in oak barrels, approximately 30% of which were new, to provide structure without masking the fruit's natural brilliance.
