A man of many talents, Michel Chapoutier holds the world record for 100/100 scores awarded by the American critic, Robert Parker. Mathilde, Michel Chapoutier's daughter, has taken over the running of this iconic house, which has over 350 hectares of vineyards in the most prestigious appellations of the northern and southern Rhône Valley region.
M. Chapoutier's Mordorée 2020 is a Côte-Rôtie wine made from old Syrah vines. Located on the edge of the Côte Blonde, this parcel is planted on soils composed of chlorite and iron micaschists.
Vinification and ageing
Harvested when fully ripe, the grapes are completely destemmed. Vinification in concrete vats, with daily pumping over to encourage optimal extraction of colour and tannins. Exclusive use of the run-off juice. The wine is aged for 14 to 18 months in 225 litre barrels.
The colour is a deep red.
The nose combines spice, raspberry and violet with notes of black olive, tapenade and rosemary.
Ample, the mouth reveals its elegance, its structure and its balance.
M. Chapoutier's Mordorée 2020 can be cellared until 2095.
