a full-bodied and silky Grand Cru from Burgundy
The estate
Founded in 1797 by Jean Latour in Aloxe-Corton, this Burgundian family house carries on a unique heritage combining cooperage and winemaking. Owner of 33 hectares including Grands Crus from Corton, Louis Latour stands out for its dual expertise inherited from its origins as a cooper. A pioneer in exports as early as 1815 and a former supplier to European royal courts, the house has remained a key reference for Burgundy wines since settling on Rue des Tonnelliers in Beaune in 1867.
The vineyard
The vines of Corton "Clos du Roi" enjoy a perfect due-east exposure on the hill of Corton, in the village of Aloxe-Corton. They are planted on a subsoil of marl and limestone, which gives the wine its characteristic structure and minerality. Severe pruning allows for late harvesting, ensuring optimal ripeness and richness of the grapes.
Winemaking and ageing
Vinification is carried out traditionally in open vats, with complete malolactic fermentation. Ageing lasts 10 to 12 months in oak barrels, 25% of which are new, sourced from the Louis Latour cooperage with a medium toast.
Grape variety
Pinot Noir (100%).
