Louis Latour : Meursault 1er cru "Blagny" Château de Blagny 2020

Complex and delicious, a fine white wine from Meursault 1er Cru

The estate

Founded in 1797, Domaine Louis Latour is currently run by the family’s 11th generation and is headed by Louis-Fabrice Latour. As a wine merchant and grower, Louis Latour owns the largest estate of Grands Crus in Burgundy.

The vineyard

Meursault is the largest white wine-producing commune in the Côte d'Or and is located to the south of Volnay and Pommard in the Côte de Beaune. Although Meursault does not comprise any Grands Crus, the excellent quality of its Premiers Crus makes it a world-renowned reference among lovers of fine Burgundian wines. Château de Blagny is Louis Latour’s exclusive estate and watches over an exceptional vineyard. The vines are 30 years old on average and are located on the top of a hill that overlooks Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet. An exceptional terroir for the Chardonnay variety, this vineyard is characterised by its marl and limestone soils which give rise to fine Meursault wines that are fresh, elegant and boast a great ageing potential.

Vinification and ageing

Once the grapes have been harvested by hand, a traditional fermentation is carried out in oak barrels, along with a 100% malolactic fermentation. The wine is aged for 8 to 10 months in French oak barrels (35% of which are new) from the Louis Latour cooperage.
