Description
The typicality of a red wine from Burgundy by Louis Jadot
The estate
Maison Louis Jadot, established since 1859, is a leading name in Burgundy. Its journey began with the acquisition of a plot in 1826. His trading activity quickly allowed him to make himself known. Since 1992, the house has been headed by Pierre-Henry Gagey, who perpetuates the notion of a Burgundy wine that is accessible to all who are looking for quality wines.
The vineyard
This Santenay Village "Clos des Gatsulards" Domaine Gagey 2015 by Louis Jadot is produced from a vineyard located at the south of the Côte de Beaune. Located on a very windy site, this stony and south-sloping terroir is unique in its ability to warm up very quickly. This type of soil contributes to the unique signature of the wine.
Winemaking and ageing
Manually harvested in small boxes to preserve the whole fruit, the grapes are subject to a rigorous manual sort before destemming. The grapes are macerated in wooden or stainless steel vats for 3 to 4 weeks. During fermentation, punching-down is carried out twice a day in tanks. Ageing lasts for around 18 months in barrels within the estate’s cooperage (one third new).
Blend
This Santenay Village "Clos des Gatsulards" Domaine Gagey 2015 by Louis Jadot is a 100% Pinot Noir wine.
Serving
For an optimal tasting, serve at 16-17°C.
