The elegance of a great white Burgundy wine crafted by Louis Jadot
The estate
Officially founded in 1859 in Beaune, the Louis Jadot House is an iconic figure of the Burgundy region. While its winemaking history began in 1826 with the acquisition of the Clos des Ursules, it truly rose to prominence in the mid-19th century. Today led by Pierre-Henry Gagey and Thomas Seiter, this prestigious estate enjoys international renown. Committed to a strong environmental approach, with HVE 3 certification and a conversion to organic farming, the house pursues excellence across a vast vineyard, producing cuvées that faithfully reflect the richness of their terroirs.
The vineyard
This wine comes from the "Grande Montagne" Climat, a Premier Cru terroir located on the upper reaches of the Chassagne-Montrachet appellation. Resting on hillsides with perfectly drained limestone soils and benefiting from a moderate altitude as well as a favourable exposure, this vineyard offers ideal conditions for the vines to flourish. Vineyard management follows a philosophy of minimal intervention, excluding synthetic products in favour of practices that respect biodiversity.
The vintage
The 2022 vintage was marked by overall warm and dry weather conditions. This abundant sunshine encouraged high maturity levels and led to an early harvest, giving rise to a generous vintage recognised for offering rich profiles while retaining beautiful freshness.
Winemaking and aging
The house's philosophy relies on minimal intervention in the cellar to allow the terroir to express itself fully. The vinification of this Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru "Grande Montagne" 2022 includes alcoholic fermentation followed by malolactic fermentation to soften the acidity. The wine then benefits from careful aging in oak barrels on its lees for several months, endowing it with its aromatic complexity and silky texture.
Grape variety
100% Chardonnay.
