Description

Characteristics and tasting notes for the Saint-Joseph "Maison" 2023

Tasting notes

Colour
With a deep red hue that is almost black, the wine is enhanced by brilliant ruby glints.

Nose
Precise and remarkably complex, the bouquet exudes superb aromas of red and black fruits, mingled with notes of pepper, spice, violet and leather, reflecting the minerality of its terroir.

Palate
Following a bold attack, this wine reveals a remarkable balance. The tannic texture, both delicate and precise, harmonises beautifully with black fruit flavours and peppery touches. The finish is long, carried by lovely freshness and a subtle mineral tension.

Food and wine pairing

This red wine pairs perfectly with grilled meats or dishes served with sauce. Its freshness and spicy notes will beautifully complement rich meats or herb-based reductions.

Service and storage

Thanks to its balanced structure, this 2023 vintage boasts fine ageing potential, allowing it to evolve favourably over time.

The elegance and minerality of a Rhône Valley wine by Les Alexandrins

The estate

Officially founded in 2009, Maison & Domaines Les Alexandrins is the result of a collaboration between three passionate winemakers: Nicolas Jaboulet, Guillaume Sorrel and Alexandre Caso. Located in the heart of the Northern Rhône Valley in France, this estate stands out for a philosophy that combines classic methods with a contemporary vision, producing wines that faithfully express the purity of Rhône terroirs.

The vineyard

The grapes used for this Saint-Joseph come from plots located on the right bank of the river. The vines flourish on steep hillsides, terraced since Roman times. Facing east and southeast, this terroir is mainly composed of granitic soils, offering ideal conditions for the vine.

The vintage

2023 was marked by contrasting weather conditions. After a mild winter, spring proved particularly wet. Summer then alternated between periods of heat and welcome rainfall. Despite these weather challenges, the harvest yielded beautifully balanced grapes.

Winemaking and aging

The Saint-Joseph "Maison" 2023 is crafted using traditional methods. Fermentation and maceration last around twenty days, with pump-overs carried out at the start of the process, followed by punch-downs towards the end. The wine then undergoes careful aging, preserving the brightness of the fruit while refining its structure.
