An exceptional Crémant de Loire celebrating 140 years of history
The estate
Founded in 1885 on the banks of the Loire by Édouard Langlois and his wife Jeanne Château, the house of Langlois has established itself as a benchmark for sparkling wines from the Loire Valley. Based in Saumur, the company joined the Bollinger family group in 1973, further strengthening its excellence. Specializing in Crémant de Loire, the house cultivates Chenin Blanc as its emblematic grape variety and builds its expertise on the art of blending, long aging in tuffeau cellars, and an unwavering pursuit of elegance. Its signature: “The Loire as inspiration, time as the exception”.
The vineyard
This exceptional cuvée comes from a selection of the finest parcels in the Crémant de Loire appellation, on flint-limestone and clay-limestone soils. The grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness and hand-picked into shallow, perforated crates to preserve the integrity of the berries. Gentle pressing, carried out a few hours after harvest on a pneumatic press, follows a yield of 200 kilograms for 100 liters and guarantees a selection of 100% cuvée.
The vintage
The 2004 vintage is characterized by a late growing season and a cool climate, which gave the grapes finesse and a fine acidity. A favorable late summer made it possible to harvest healthy grapes, particularly for the white varieties. These climatic conditions produced wines that promise to defy time.
Winemaking and aging
Cadence 140 ans 2004 Langlois is produced using the Méthode Traditionnelle without malolactic fermentation, in order to preserve freshness and aromatic purity. The choice of the magnum format allows for very limited oxygen intake and optimal aging. This cuvée benefited from an exceptional twenty-year aging on the lees in the historic tuffeau cellars of the Langlois house. Disgorgement took place on February 3, 2025 with a minimal dosage of 2 grams per liter. Limited to 100 numbered magnums, this edition reflects the house’s know-how and patience.
Grape varieties
Chenin (40%, harvested from October 5 to 13), Chardonnay (40%, harvested on September 15) and Cabernet Franc (20%, harvested on October 1).
