Description
Characteristics and tasting notes for L'Oratoire des Papes 2025 Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Tasting notes
Appearance
Pale, luminous yellow in colour, this wine is enhanced by delicate golden highlights.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with notes of white and yellow fruits such as pear, peach and quince, accompanied by fresh citrus. This is heightened by subtle touches of white flowers and a mineral, flint-like undertone.
Palate
The attack is lively and full of freshness, evolving into a rich, silky texture. The palate is structured by a saline, mineral backbone, extending into a persistent finish with fine acidity and a noble bitterness.
Food and wine pairing
This white wine pairs beautifully with refined dishes such as saffron-poached monkfish tail, scallop tartare or grilled lobster. It will also enhance a platter of aged hard cheeses.
Serving and cellaring
To fully appreciate the complexity of this vintage, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature of around 12°C, allowing it to warm gently in the glass. With excellent ageing potential, it can be cellared until around 2040.

The estate
Born around a place of devotion dedicated to Saint Mark, L'Oratoire des Papes had its identity and iconic Art Deco label created in 1926 by the Amouroux family. Located in France, in the heart of the Rhône Valley, this historic estate was acquired in 2000 by Maison Ogier, part of the AdVini group, which remains its current owner. Under the direction of François Miquel and technical director Édouard Guerin, the estate now cultivates 38.5 hectares of vines. It stands out for its commitment to natural practices and its aim to express the true essence of the local terroirs.
The vineyard
The Châteauneuf-du-Pape vineyard thrives under a sunny Mediterranean climate, swept and purified by the mistral wind. The plots dedicated to white grape varieties lie mainly on soils of Urgonian limestone scree and sandy marl. This distinctive geology gives the grapes remarkable tension and salinity. The estate favours environmentally friendly viticulture, with exclusively manual harvesting and meticulous sorting of the bunches.
Winemaking and ageing
After direct pressing, this vintage is crafted with a minimal-intervention approach. Ageing takes place on fine lees for around six months, until spring. It is carried out 80% in egg-shaped concrete vats, which encourage the natural resuspension of the lees, and 20% in 300-litre French oak barrels. To preserve optimal freshness, malolactic fermentation is not sought.
Grape varieties
This wine is a blend of Clairette, Roussanne, Grenache Blanc, Bourboulenc, Picpoul and Picardan.
