Description
Characteristics and tasting tips for the Saint-Aubin 1er Cru "Murgers des Dents de Chien" 2025 from Jean Chartron
Tasting
Appearance
The wine reveals a brilliant pale gold colour, adorned with subtle green highlights.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with delicate notes of white flowers such as jasmine and lily. It then gains depth with scents of fresh fruit such as pear and apple, underscored by a hint of citrus and a minerality reminiscent of chalk or flint.
Palate
The attack is smooth and slightly creamy before giving way to a fine mineral tension. The palate stands out for its linear structure and chalky texture, stretching into a long, fresh and saline finish.
Food and wine pairings
This white wine pairs beautifully with poultry in cream sauce, fine fish in sauce, seafood risotto or hard cooked cheeses such as Comté and Beaufort.
Serving and cellaring
This Saint-Aubin 1er Cru "Murgers des Dents de Chien" 2025 will continue to develop its aromatic complexity and can be enjoyed until around 2035.

The estate
The family's winemaking history began in 1859 with Jean-Edouard Dupard, but the current company behind the Jean Chartron estate was officially founded in 1984. Located in Puligny-Montrachet, in the heart of Burgundy, this historic property covers around 14.5 hectares of vines. Now run by Jean-Michel Chartron, who represents the fifth generation, the house is renowned for its exceptional heritage of premiers and grands crus, including several monopoles. The estate stands out for its environmentally respectful approach, showcasing the pure and authentic expression of its terroirs through sustainable viticulture.
The vineyard
This cuvée comes from a 0.51-hectare plot in the "Les Murgers des Dents de Chien" climat, one of the most highly regarded in the Saint-Aubin appellation. Rising to between 320 and 370 metres above sea level, this terroir enjoys a south to south-east exposure and a very limestone-rich, stony soil. The vines, around 60 years old, are sheltered by the edge of a forest. The vineyard is farmed using methods inspired by organic agriculture, including natural grass cover, mechanical tilling without herbicides and Poussard pruning.
Vinification and ageing
After direct pressing, the musts of this Saint-Aubin 1er Cru "Murgers des Dents de Chien" 2025 are transferred into French oak barrels, 20 to 25% of which are new. Both alcoholic and malolactic fermentation take place in barrel. The wine is then aged on fine lees for around 12 months, before being blended in stainless steel tanks for a further 4 months prior to bottling.
