Description

The elegance and aromatic intensity of a Côtes du Rhône red wine

The estate

The E. Guigal estate was founded in Ampuis in 1946 by Etienne Guigal. His son, Marcel, took over in 1961. Today, the third generation continues the heritage and values of this iconic family-run house in the Rhône Valley.

The E. Guigal estate takes care of a mosaic of vineyards located in several appellations - Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu, Hermitage, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Saint-Joseph, Crozes-Hermitage – which produce a range of wines of irreproachable quality.

Across the vintages, the E. Guigal house has seen major development, notably becoming the owner of the famous Château d’Ampuis in 1995, as well as many wine estates (Jean-Louis Grippat, Domaine de Vallouit, Domaine de Bonserine and Château de Nalys, in Châteauneuf-du-Pape).

The vineyard

This 2019 blend from E. Guignal is a Côtes du Rhône wine from vines aged about 35 years old, cultivated on very diverse soils made up of sediment, granite limestone, alluvial deposit and pebbles.

Winemaking and ageing

Traditional vinification with controlled temperature fermentation and long macerations. Ageing of this Rhône Valley wine took 18 months in large oak barrels.
