Tasting
Colour
This white wine from France displays an intense, luminous golden colour with excellent clarity.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with distinctive notes of petrol and candied citrus, before revealing delicate scents of white flowers such as acacia, hawthorn and linden, all underpinned by a complex mineral backbone.
Palate
Perfectly dry, the palate stands out for its intense minerality and beautiful tension. Lemony flavours intertwine with saline notes, offering a chiselled, elegant texture. The remarkably long finish extends this mineral, tangy expression.
Food and wine pairing
This wine pairs wonderfully with seafood, particularly oysters and clams, as well as with grilled fish or fish prepared as ceviche. It also pairs beautifully with white meats, traditional dishes such as eggs in meurette sauce, or fresh goat's cheese.

The authentic expression of a Marsannay terroir
The estate
Founded in 1999 by Sylvain Pataille, Domaine Sylvain Pataille is located in Marsannay-la-Côte, in Burgundy. Starting with a single leased hectare, the vineyard now spans 15 hectares. Still led by Sylvain Pataille, joined by his brother Laurent in 2008, the estate stands out for its pioneering commitment to sustainable viticulture. Certified organic since 2008 and practising biodynamic methods, the domaine strives to produce wines that faithfully reflect their terroir through minimal intervention and rigorous soil work.
The vineyard
Part of the Marsannay appellation, the "La Charme aux Prêtres" plot is a tiny gem of 0.17 hectares. Planted in 1985, the vines thrive on an east-facing slope, between 280 and 300 metres in altitude. The shallow, gravel-rich soils form a geological mosaic blending limestone and marl. The vineyard is farmed with very low yields and meticulous soil work, sometimes including horse ploughing, in order to preserve the vitality of this unique ecosystem.
The vintage
The year 2022 began with challenging weather conditions, marked by a violent storm in June during flowering. These rains proved to be a blessing, however, providing the vines with the water reserves needed to withstand the extreme heat and drought that followed at the height of summer. The more classic end to the growing season allowed for healthy berries with optimal physiological ripeness.
Winemaking and ageing
The making of the Marsannay Village "La Charme aux Prêtres" 2022 relies on a minimal-intervention approach. Fermentation starts spontaneously thanks to indigenous yeasts. A significant proportion of whole bunches was retained this year. The wine then undergoes extended ageing in oak barrels for 15 to 18 months, with very moderate use of new wood (up to 30% maximum), favouring a slow, reductive maturation.
Grape variety
100% Chardonnay.
