A Chablis Premier Cru imbued with richness and minerality
The estate
Established in 1850 in the cradle of the Chablis vineyard, Domaine Laroche today cultivates 90 hectares within this prestigious Burgundy appellation. A member of the Advini group since 2016 and led by Antoine Leccia and Jean-Baptiste Mouton, the estate enjoys international recognition for the excellence of its cuvées, particularly prized in high-end gastronomy. The commitment to organic farming and manual harvesting constitute the pillars of a philosophy respectful of Kimmeridgian terroirs, making Domaine Laroche a reference for lovers of mineral and racy Chardonnays.
The vineyard
The Montée de Tonnerre climat is among the finest Chablis Premier Crus. Separated from the Les Blanchots Grand Cru by a narrow ravine, this vineyard benefits from a particularly favorable south-west exposure. The Kimmeridgian limestone soil, dotted with numerous fossil outcrops, lends its Chablis wines exceptional finesse and intensity.
The vintage
The 2023 vintage in Burgundy reveals itself to be generous and high-quality despite climatic and sanitary pressures from late winter to spring. The heat at the end of August improved conditions and accelerated ripening. The harvest, which began on September 7 with the Côte de Léchet Premier Cru and ended on September 21, was conducted plot by plot to preserve freshness and minerality. Fermentations took place under excellent conditions. The overall potential proves comparable to that of 2020, with yields returning to satisfactory historical averages.
Winemaking and aging
After manual harvesting, this Chablis Premier Cru "Montée de Tonnerre" 2023 is vinified in a traditional manner. Aging takes place for 12 months in demi-muids, on fine lees.
Grape variety
Chardonnay (100%).
