Description
Characteristics and tasting notes for the Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru "Les Perrières" 2022 Domaine Cordier Père et Fils
Tasting notes
Colour
The colour reveals a beautiful pale hue.
Nose
The nose opens with floral and fruity notes, marked by a delicate presence of acacia blossom. A chalky minerality, typical of limestone soils, rounds out this bouquet.
Palate
On the palate, this wine offers a balanced structure combining the characteristic richness of its terroir with a refreshing acidity. The palate is dominated by crisp flavours of yellow fruit and citrus, underpinned by a vertical mineral tension. The finish proves persistent, extending the lemony notes.
Food and wine pairing
This wine pairs harmoniously with seafood such as grilled prawns or crab, as well as with poultry and white meats served with creamy sauces. It also goes very well with fresh pasta with mushrooms or a mature goat's cheese.
Service and storage
For optimal tasting, it is recommended to serve the Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru "Les Perrières" 2022 at a temperature of between 10 and 12°C. This wine can be enjoyed now, but it will continue to develop its complexity in the cellar until around 2030.
The precision and elegance of a Pouilly-Fuissé Premier Cru
The estate
Established in 1945 in France, in the south of Burgundy, Domaine Cordier Père et Fils is a family-owned estate renowned for its exacting winegrowing standards. Now run by Christophe Cordier, who took over management in 1987, the estate spans around thirty hectares spread across numerous plots. Guided by a philosophy centred on respect for the soil, the vineyard has achieved organic and biodynamic certification. The producer stands out for its commitment to faithfully expressing the geological complexity of the Mâconnais through carefully crafted single-plot cuvées.
The vineyard
The Les Perrières climat is located in the commune of Fuissé, at an altitude ranging between 300 and 350 metres. This terroir, recognised within the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation, sits on clay-limestone soils rich in concretions and fragments of hard limestone. Vine management follows a respectful approach, including short pruning, the plaiting of foliage to protect the grapes, and soil work carried out using animal traction in order to preserve the underground ecosystem.
The vintage
The year 2022 began with an uncertain spring before offering mild, favourable weather conditions throughout the growing season. This stability allowed the grapes to reach optimal health at harvest, providing an ideal balance between berry ripeness and the preservation of fine freshness.
Winemaking and ageing
The hand-picked, plot-by-plot harvest is followed by vinification carried out exclusively with indigenous yeasts. The Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru "Les Perrières" 2022 is aged on its original lees with regular stirring, enhancing aromatic complexity. Cellar work is carried out by gravity, without the use of pumps, within temperature-controlled facilities. The wine matures in fine-grained French oak barrels and wooden vats, before being bottled by gravity, without fining and with only very light filtration.
Grape variety
100% Chardonnay.
