Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes of the 2024 Riesling "Les Éléments" from Domaine Bott Geyl

Tasting

Appearance
The colour reveals a clear and brilliant shade of yellow.

Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with a lovely freshness, revealing citrus notes such as lemon and zest, harmoniously intertwined with delicate floral touches.

Palate
Pure and refined, the palate stands out for its great elegance and precision. It is carried by a fine, crystalline acidity that highlights a core of citrus and floral notes. The whole offers a beautiful minerality and stretches into a precise, mouth-watering finish.

Food and Wine Pairing

This gastronomic white wine pairs wonderfully with traditional sauerkraut, grilled andouillette sausage, or a fine seafood platter. Its freshness and minerality also make it an excellent match for grilled fish, sushi, ceviche, or white meats.

Serving and Ageing

For optimal tasting, it is recommended to serve this 2024 Riesling "Les Éléments" at a temperature of 8°C. This wine can already be enjoyed for its youthful character, but it also boasts fine ageing potential, allowing it to develop in the cellar until around 2034.

The Elegance and Minerality of a Great White Wine from Alsace by Domaine Bott Geyl

The Estate

Although the family's winemaking history began in 1795, it was in 1953 that Domaine Bott Geyl was officially founded by Édouard Bott. Located in Beblenheim, in the heart of Alsace, France, the estate is now run by Jean-Christophe Bott. This passionate winemaker sparked a true shift towards quality by converting the vineyard to organic farming in 2000, then to biodynamics in 2002. Renowned for its discretion and rigour, the estate produces pure, honest wines free of artifice, faithfully reflecting the richness of their terroirs.

The Vineyard

The grapes for this cuvée come from carefully selected plots within the Alsace vineyards. These vines thrive on clay-loam-sandstone soils, an ideal terroir that promotes even ripening and a clear aromatic expression. The estate farms these plots according to strict biodynamic principles, favouring soil work through ploughing and digging, the use of organic compost, and a complete absence of synthetic herbicides, in order to preserve biodiversity and plant health.

Winemaking and Ageing

The grapes for the 2024 Riesling "Les Éléments" are harvested exclusively by hand, once the skins and seeds have reached full maturity. The bunches are transported in small crates to preserve their integrity before undergoing a gentle, slow pneumatic pressing. Fermentation occurs naturally through indigenous yeasts, with no chaptalisation or enzyme addition. The wine is then aged on fine lees for four to eight months, giving it texture and stability, before being bottled without fining.
