Description
A Sauternes Grand Cru Classé from an exceptional vintage
The estate
With the first harvest carried out in 1618, the Clos Haut-Peyraguey is a historic Sauternes property. This 1st Grand Cru Classé of Sauternes in 1855 is also the smallest in the appellation in terms of area as it extends over 8.5 hectares. Located on the highest lands of the Bommes hill, Clos Haut-Peyraguey takes its name from Peyraguey which means hill or promontory. Acquired in 2012 by Bernard Magrez, Clos Haut-Peyraguey is among the most beautiful classified growths of Sauternes.
The vineyard
The smallest of the 1st Grands Crus Classés of Sauternes with an area of 8.5 hectares of vines in one piece within an enclosure, Clos Haut-Peyraguey watches over an exceptional vineyard. The property located opposite Château d'Yquem enjoys an ideal location, with vines planted at the top of the Bommes hill, on sandy-gravel soils resting on clay subsoils.
Blend
This Clos Haut-Peyraguey 2018 is the result of a blend of 97% sémillon, 3% sauvignon blanc.
