Vinum

Deep dark color; complex nose, violet and lavender blossoms over ripe, dark fruit, dominated by blackberry and black cherry, with a hint of blood orange, all underpinned by a mineral note; on the palate straight, fresh and compact, silky tannins provide structure, only showing at the very back of the palate, the pronounced acidity brings freshness; long finish on a mix of red and dark berries, ending saline. Once again a safe bet, full of finesse and harmonious.

Decanter

Creamy vanilla and blue fruit on the nose, super charming, with delicate fragrance and florality too. Clean and so pure, tangy and alive, this is really lifted and focused on the red fruit spectrum with crisp acidity and chalky tannins. Very much an aerial style, tannins are velvety but almost in the background with acidity to the fore. Feels confident but still not trying too hard. Zingy and juicy with excellent saltiness. Super enjoyable. Almost a hint of sweetness on the finish as well as minty, liquorice and blood orange bitterness. Delicate. 5% press. 3.5 pH. First year of organic certification and 100 years of family ownership with a special label to celebrate the occasion. Indigenous yeasts used for fermentation. Harvest started on 27 September and finished on 7 October. Ageing 55% new oak.

With a floral character, the wine exudes a violet-filled perfume, enriched with notes of black cherries, plums, cocoa, and truffle. On the palate, it is soft, supple, fresh, and creamy, showcasing a lively energy with layers of black raspberries, chocolate-topped strawberries, and cherries, leading to a soft, vibrant finish. With just a year or two in the bottle, it will be easy to enjoy for 15 or more years. It is important to note that 2024 marks the 100th anniversary of the property purchased by the family. Harvesting took place September 27 - October 5. The wine blends 75% Merlot with 25% Cabernet Franc. 13.2% ABV. Drink from 2028-2044. 92-94 Pts

Le Figaro Vin

The color shows beautiful density, as does the nose, both tender and warm. A comforting feel paired with fresh, silky fruit. This tension carries through into an energetic palate, full of tangy fruit. The finish is fresh, powdery with tannins, and reveals subtle bitters that contribute to impressive length.

Description

A great Pomerol wine from an exceptional terroir in the heart of the plateau

The estate

Founded in 1924 by Jean-Baptiste Audy, the Clos du Clocher is now owned by the Bourotte family, direct descendants of the founder. The estate stands out for its proximity to the church of Pomerol, from which it takes its name. .

The vineyard

Situated on the prestigious plateau of Pomerol, the vineyard extends over 5.76 hectares in the heart of the Pomerol plateau. This vineyard, averaging 37 years of age, is characterized by its soils of blue clay, gravel and clay. This mosaic of soils gives the wine its richness and complexity.

The wine

2024 celebrates the 100th anniversary of this family estate. On this occasion, the packaging is adorned with a collar identical to that of 1924 and 1947.

Vinification and ageing

Hand-harvested, the grapes are rigorously sorted before being vinified plot by plot in concrete and stainless steel vats, except for less than 10% of the harvest, which is vinified in barrels. Ageing takes place over 18 months in French oak barrels, 50% of which are new wood and 40% once-used, complemented by a stint in small vats (5% in glass and 5% in concrete).

Blend

The Clos du Clocher 2024 is composed of 75% merlot and 25% cabernet franc.
