Château Siran 2021

Less marked by roasted notes than en primeur; cassis and sour cherries on the nose, a hint of green bell pepper; straightforward on the palate, crisp fruit, well-judged, finely knit tannins, shows elegance, with a long finish. This wine has developed beautifully.

Offering up aromas of cassis, redcurrant and plums, the 2021 Siran is medium-bodied, tart and ephemeral. It hasn't fulfilled the promise shown by the samples I tasted en primeur.

Slightly high-pitched, but has freshness and elegance, with a pretty stream of damson plum and red currant fruit flavors lined with subtle tobacco, black tea and alder hints. Shows a savory echo on the finish, which has the vintage’s trim edge, but this is better than most of its peers. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Drink now through 2030. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 9,000 cases made, 2,000 cases imported.

Lovely fragrance on the nose, richly scented with dark fruits and subtle exotic spices. Smooth and supple in the mouth, great energy and drive with a fun, juicy core that is light but focused, giving this a more elegant touch yet still persistent. A really nice take on 2021 with plenty of body and flavor. A gorgeous wine that people are sure to finish! Energetic, clean, pure, lively, juicy and precise. A great show with strawberries, blackcurrants and cherries.

Cherry stones, currants, tobacco and lemon peel on the nose. Sleek and focused, elegant, with fine-grained tannins, a medium body and a creamy, linear finish. Try from 2024.

The 2021 Siran has an open bouquet with raspberry and blackberry fruit, iodine and light iris flower scents, not the most complex in Margaux but the oak is nicely integrated. It opens nicely with time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, more black fruit here originating from the 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, touches of graphite and cedar emerging toward the finish. It will drink sooner than other vintages, but is still worth seeking out given prices.

Black cherries, plums, flowers and a dollop of cocoa pop in the perfume. On the palate, the wine is supple, creamy and fresh, with a nice sweetness to the fruits, lift and a dusty-edged finish. Drink from 2025-2040.

Defined ruby core, purple reflections, subtle brightening on the rim. Fresh red wild berries and cherries on the nose with a delicate herbal savouriness. The medium body supports a bold red cherry–dominated palate, integrated tannins and a salty, versatile and fresh finish.

The 2021 Château Siran shows the challenges of the vintage, and is lean, firm, and relatively uninspiring. Light red fruits, a touch of cedar, medium to light body, and a clean finish all make for a competent, enjoyable wine to drink over the coming 7-8 years. The blend is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, 11% Petit Verdot, and the rest Cabernet Franc.

One of the highlights of the 2021 vintage in Margaux. It is lighter-framed than you will have found at Siran in recent years, but it has flavor, grip, and plenty of juice running through the palate. The fresh acidities of the vintage come across as a textured slate-like minerality, and there are bright fruits on offer. Hubert de Bouard, consultant. Harvest from September 23 to October 9, with a generous yield of 51 hl/ha. 35% new oak.

A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, 11% Petit Verdot, and 1% Cabernet Franc, the 2021 Siran has a medium to deep garnet-purple color. Subtle scents of ripe raspberries, redcurrants, and roses drift from the glass, with underlying notes of dried sage and underbrush. Light to medium-bodied, the palate is soft and well-crafted, with delicate red berry flavors and a fragrant finish.

2020 was delicious, intense, and refined, and 2021, logically, is a touch softer, yet retains all the Margaux-like elegance one has every right to expect from the wine. Already seductive, with its velvety texture, it will evolve effortlessly over the next decade.

A lively nose of pure, perfectly ripe fruit (blueberries, raspberries) and small garden flowers. Full of energy and zest on the palate. A beautiful balance between the fruit and the indulgent notes of coffee and caramel. A real gem!

Siran 2021 shows a fresh, fruity character with hints of peppermint and red berries. Sleek and juicy, it offers a mouthwatering acidity and well-integrated tannins. A delicious wine that can be enjoyed young, yet has the structure to age in the cellar.

The nose is discreetly tight and offers a little concentration, a fine grain, and elegance. It reveals notes of wild blackberry, violet, and, more subtly, wild strawberry, combined with touches of crushed small fruits as well as fine hints of star anise, cardamom, and a very discreet hint of Bourbon vanilla pod. The palate is fruity and offers minerality, juiciness, indulgence, a tangy backbone, and good definition. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of juicy/fleshy blackberry and raspberry, and, more subtly, cornflower, combined with touches of violet and pulpy/fresh red berries, as well as fine hints of racy minerality, a subtle hint of camphor and star anise, and a very discreet hint of toasted almond. The tannins are precise, supple, and elegant. A lovely, indulgent, elegant, and suave finish. A slight chew on the finish.

Dark, deep color. Aromatic nose with ripe fruit and a slight hint of licorice. Palate with a silky, tactile softness, full of flavor and aroma, with fine tannins, showing no acidity or hardness. Pleasant.
