An exceptionally powerful and racy Saint-Julien
Product of a great vintage for Bordeaux, the Le Grand Vin de Léoville du Marquis de Las Cases has earned unanimous acclaim among critics and the international press. Unmistakably recognised as one of the greatest wines ever produced by Château Léoville Las Cases, the Le Grand Vin de Léoville du Marquis de Las Cases 2018 is at the top of the Bordeaux list for the 2018 vintage.
After a wet start to the year, 2018 was marked by a beautifully dry and hot summer. Harvested over three weeks between September 18 and October 18, the grapes were able to reach a perfect level of ripeness.
Made with a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (80%), complemented by Merlot (11%) and Cabernet Franc (9%), the Le Grand Vin de Léoville du Marquis de Las Cases 2018 presents the profile of an exceptional vintage of Saint-Julien. Intense and fragrant, the aromatic bouquet offers great complexity. Reserved at first, the nose eventually reveals generous notes of black fruit, including blueberry and black cherry. Spicy notes and chocolate appear, further evolving fresh mint notes. From the onset, the wine evolves with great elegance. The palate unfolds slowly, revealing a splendid texture with powerful and perfectly integrated tannins. The acidity of the vintage ensures a perfect balance and aromatic persistence. Complex, opulent, fresh and fine, the Le Grand Vin de Léoville du Marquis de Las Cases 2018 has unparalleled class and a huge potential for age.
