Highly juicy and fresh, with crisp tannins and good length on notes of fresh berries; it’s enjoyable.

Sappy and dense, with kirsch, plum reduction, mulled açaí berry and warmed fig fruit showing impressive range, while licorice snap, ganache and roasted apple wood notes jostle behind them. Langoa is vinified and aged in the same way as Léoville Barton, the difference being the terroir and varietal blend – even that is not strikingly different. Vibrant and stylish nose, with blackcurrant, black fruits and liquorice. Juicy and full-bodied, it displays swagger, robust tannins and concentration, but not to excess. Vigorous and long finish.

Beautiful aromas of flowers and berries, intermingled in a fresh and brambly mode with a cedary edge. This is very fresh. The tannins carve an exceptionally deep, long line through the dark berries and cassis and deliver a very powerful, unwavering finish. This is in great form. Very powerful and focused. The 2016 Langoa Barton is succulent, racy and inviting, with striking textural richness and depth. Ripe dark plum, tobacco, cedar, licorice and spice are all generous in this racy, pliant Saint-Julien. The 2016 is an especially fine edition of Langoa Barton and one of the sleepers of the vintage.

Crisp, fresh, crunchy, earthy, bright red berries offer a nice pop. The wine is packed with red, zesty, fresh fruits, ripe tannins, and a bouquet of forest floor, cedar, tobacco, and cassis. Give this a decade and enjoy the classic ride.

Deep dark ruby in colour with an opaque core and a discreet bright rim. On the nose the wine shows berry fruit underlaid with notes of honey and tobacco. Juicy cherry flavours, ripe with integrated tannins, a lively texture, lingering and long on the palate with good ageing potential.

Another beautiful Saint-Julien, the 2016 Château Langoa Barton reveals a saturated purple color with ample black, plummy, cherry fruits balanced by notes of scorched earth, licorice, and earth. This sexy, plump, chewy effort doesn’t give up too much elegance, yet it packs tons of fruit, character, and delicious charm. Drink it over the coming two decades or more. The blend is 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, and 8% Cabernet Franc, and it’s well worth having in your cellar.

Sweet wild-berry bouquet, licorice and fragrant violets, with a hint of coconut and cassis drops in the background. On the somewhat brawny palate it shows plenty of elegance, finishing on blackberry and shrub-like notes. This year it cannot keep up with its “big brother” from the same house.

The Langoa Barton 2016 is deep garnet in color. It bursts with flamboyant notes of warm black cherries, dried mulberries, and crushed blackcurrants, plus hints of fertile loam and wild thyme. Medium-bodied, the palate has fantastic tension with fine-grained tannins and red and black berry layers, finishing with impressive purity.

Powerful, not yet fully settled, with great flesh, but the freshness of the Cabernets has not fully returned yet. Wait.

2016 also has this grace, with a structure already well in place. You can start enjoying it.

Nose with small notes of prunes, bramble, and violet. Broad palate, slightly tight tannins, lovely length.

This 2016 is surprising in its ability to charm already, while showing freshness through notes of mint and spices, followed by classic nuances of graphite, cedar, and blackcurrant. The palate nevertheless underscores the greatness of the vintage with dense, powerful tannins, yet it is also fruity, juicy, and persistent. A compact, harmonious wine that one can start to enjoy.

The best ever made. Beautiful dark, intense color. The nose is moderately aromatic for now, yet pure, fruity, and spicy. Instantly delicious on the palate, juicy and wonderfully perfumed. Its soft flesh evokes Pomerol for a few seconds. Very fine, sappy, and deep length. Superb balance. It’s very good and seamless.

Big and packed with spice and smokiness, this wine is full of rich black fruits and juicy acidity. Wood aging adds a light touch of toastiness at this stage but will integrate to give a ripe wine ready to drink from 2024.
