The estate
An 1855 Sauternes Premier Grand Cru Classé, Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey is one of the most prestigious names in the iconic sweet wine appellation located in the south of the Bordeaux region.
The vineyard
Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey boasts an exceptional 37-hectare terroir within the Sauternes appellation.
The vintage
A challenging and contrasting year, 2017 nevertheless proved that the perfect conditions were present to produce an unforgettable Sauternes vintage. It was clearly an exceptional year for Sauternes sweet wines. With perfectly ripe grapes, that showcased an excellent and healthy condition at the end of August and providential end-of-season conditions in September, noble rot was able to develop perfectly and led to botrytised grapes with perfectly concentrated aromas and sugars.
Vinification and ageing
The harvest was carried out in two selections from September 25th to October 12th 2017. Vatting for 3 weeks. Aged for 16 to 18 months in French oak barrels (1/3 of which were new).
The blend
Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey 2017 comprises a blend of Semillon (95%) and Sauvignon Blanc (5%).
The tasting
This vintage showcases an alluring aromatic richness, along with a delicious, well-balanced expression and an intense freshness on the finish.
