Description

A delicate and well-balanced red wine from Margaux

The estate

Owned by Marie-Laure Lurton, Château La Tour de Bessan was originally an ancient tower that dates back to the 13th century. Château La Tour de Bessan stands out due to its contemporary building, designed by the Toulouse-based architect Vincent Defos du Rau. Driven by Marie-Laure Lurton’s enthusiasm, the estate has greatly evolved. The vineyard has been reorganised and considerable decisions have been made regarding the vines. From the 2003 vintage onwards, the vineyard bears the "terra vitis" certificate. Château La Tour de Bessan has also acquired state-of-the-art technical facilities which have enabled this beautiful estate to stand out among the finest references in the Margaux appellation. Thus, this estate has obtained the Crus Bourgeois title.

The vineyard

Château La Tour de Bessan is a Margaux wine that stems from a 33-hectare vineyard whose vines are 25 years old on average and are planted on Pyrenean gravel.

Vinification

The selection and vinification are carried out in a plot-by-plot manner. Maceration for 18 to 22 days. The wine is aged in French oak barrels for a variable length of time depending on the vintage (30% new oak).

The blend

Château La Tour de Bessan 2021 comprises a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (50.2%), Merlot (47.3%) and Petit Verdot (2.6%).
