From naturally qualitative plots, the 2008 Cuvee des Cadettes is a blend of 40% Grenache Noir, 38% Syrah and 22% Mourvedre. The orange-tinted deep red with purple edging 2008 vintage was created from the oldest vineyard of Chateau La Nerthe. The 2008 Cuvee des Cadettes possesses a rich nose on candied blackberry, cherry and blackcurrant, enhanced by roasted fragrances. On the palate, the wine shows good balance with fine and solid tannins, accompanied by candied notes. The palate is round and full-bodied with a wonderful sucrosity on finish. The 2008 Cuvee des Cadettes has an excellent ageing potential.
Wine Advocate-Parker :
While the 2008 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee des Cadettes may be the lightest example of this cuvee I have ever tasted, it is still an outstanding wine. Revealing gamy, smoked meat, herb and peppery notes intermixed with blueberry and raspberry fruit, it is an elegant, somewhat Burgundian-styled effort composed of 40% Grenache, 38% Syrah and 22% Mourvedre. It should drink nicely for a decade or more.
