Château La Fleur Peyrabon 2010

Opaque ruby/purple with notes of lead pencil shavings, cedar wood, black currants, forest floor and some oak, the wine performs like a classified growth. Full-bodied and rich, with striking purity, texture and a long 30-second finish, this wine should drink nicely for up to 15 or more years. A sensational Pauillac from this overachieving estate, La Fleur Peyrabon’s 2010 is a blend of 67% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest mostly Merlot with some Petit Verdot. A member of the Alliance des Cru Bourgeois du Medoc.

Earthy, fragrant blackcurrants on the nose. Rich, full-bodied, concentrated and dense, with power and swagger that compensate for the rather low acidity. An impressive mouthful of fruit with tobacco and blackcurrant flavours. Will be held together by the tannins. Quite good length.

Wow. This shows wonderful blackberries, licorice and floral character. Full-bodied, with silky tannins and a long finish. Very impressive. Better in 2015, but gorgeous now.

One of the better values from the increasingly expensive Pauillac appellation, this medium-bodied, fresh, forward wine delivers a lot of bang for the buck with its cassis, earth, spice, tobacco, and cedar personality.

Very dense, inky colour. Classic nose of tobacco, cedar wood, dark berries and cassis. Dense structure with elegant dark fruit, fine spices and tobacco notes, youthful and restrained but with good substance, elegant fruit and a long, lingering finish.

Deep purple, dense at the core, garnet highlights at the rim. Cool bouquet, tobacco and black plum skin. Very pleasant palate, ripe tannins, long finish. Very good and affordable.

Supple, round, fairly straight, with a slightly firm finish.

Beautiful deep dark red color. Intense, refined nose with ripe fruit. Deep. The same depth is found on the palate with, additionally, a complex nuance of cabernet sauvignon in the mid-palate. The wine finishes long, very good, with the finest tannins ever seen here.

A structured wine from this small 17-acre Pauillac cru bourgeois, this shows weight, intense black-currant fruitiness and density from the high proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend. Dark and brooding, it's likely to age for many years.
