Description
A full-bodied and delicate Pauillac wine
The estate
Classified as a Fifth Growth in 1855, Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste covers 90 hectares, including 55 hectares of vineyards located in Pauillac, at the heart of the Bordeaux Médoc. Purchased in 1978 by Jean-Eugène Borie, the estate is now run by François-Xavier Borie, supported since 2010 by his daughter Émeline Borie. Established on deep gravel soils forming rises, the vineyard benefits from a remarkable terroir, already mentioned in the Middle Ages. Present in the Médoc since 1886, the Borie family has made this property one of Pauillac’s leading benchmarks.
The vineyard
In a single block, this Pauillac vineyard spans 55 hectares, on deep gravel mounds within a gently undulating landscape. The average vine age reaches 38 years. The estate favors exclusively mechanical soil work through ploughing and implements sustainable viticulture. The grape variety mix is 75% cabernet sauvignon, 20% merlot and 5% cabernet franc.
