Château de Myrat 2022

Less expressive, somewhat quieter than other wines, yet the florality gives the wine an interesting character; sweet palate, mild acidity, honey notes, nougat on the finish.

A flattering style, with toasted almond and coconut notes infusing a core of candied pineapple, dried apricot and just-baked peach. Brioche and ginger details fill in liberally on the finish. Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle. Drink now through 2045. 1,666 cases made.

Juicy and vibrant, with a nice sense of direction and elegance, with definition and detail. Textured and appealingly weighted. It’s missing a touch more overt sweetness and a bit of density in terms of unctuousness, but it keeps a cool freshness with some nice bitter orange and lemon rind elements. 150g/l residual sugar. 3g total acidity. 3.8 pH.

The 2022 Château de Myrat has an attractive bouquet with dried honey and yellow flowers, lilting scents that gain a little intensity with aeration. The palate is well balanced, straightforward in style, creamy rather than honeyed in texture with a peachy finish. Fine. Tasted blind at the Southwold tasting in London.

Luscious, rich and intense, great depth of flavour, grated ginger, saffron, citrus, lime zest, dips a little on the finish but bitter orange peel comes in to rescue it. Clay-limestone soils, 40% new oak.

A confident, ripe nose reminiscent of a caramelized toffee apple. On the palate, an enveloping, generous texture and caramelized aromas.

Myrat’s bouquet opens up promising prospects. It is precise, inviting, subtle, and focused above all on subtlety and quality. The many nuances point in the same direction, highlighting an overall, harmonious performance resulting from the meticulous work of Slanie de Pontiac and her teams on this 20-hectare estate. Dense and suave on the attack, the wine conveys the bouquet’s precision and clear intent. It is linear, inviting, harmonious, and supported by a structure that is both silky and refreshing. A truly beautiful wine and an estate you absolutely must discover! Barsac rocks!!

The nose is mineral, racy, straightforward, and offers beautiful, racy power. It reveals notes of candied nectarine, kumquat, and small hints of candied mandarin, combined with touches of passerillage, fine spice notes, nutmeg, and a very discreet note of roasted/monified almond. The palate is magnificently built, supple, precise, fresh, elegant, airy, deep, and elongated. It is full of accuracy and delicacy. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of verbena, stewed flat peach, and small notes of candied pear, combined with touches of kumquat, a racy minerality (terroir), as well as notes of candied ginger, crushed exotic fruits, a hint of marmalade, and crushed almond. Good length. A hint of orange blossom/dried apricot in the background. Good persistence.

Lovely old-gold highlights. A complex nose with notes of honey, rum, orange peel and saffron. Perfect balance between sweetness and freshness, with a razor-sharp tension leading to final aromas of peppermint. A fine, airy palate with a very subtle tangy note. A vintage distinguished by its personality!

The 2022 de Myrat reveals aromas of caramel, spices, oak and exotic fruits, followed by a moderately weighted, juicy and round palate with bright acids and a delicate, lovely fruity finish. This elegant, classic Sauternes is a blend of 92% Sémillon, 6% Muscadelle and 2% Sauvignon Blanc. This has 150 grams per liter of residual sugar.
