Jeff Leve

Leve Jeff

Cherries, flowers, licorice, spice, and cocoa pop in the nose. The palate is even better with its wealth of ripe, round fruits, soft, silky textures, and a creamy, mineral-tinged finish. The wine blends 85% Merlot, 11% Cabernet Franc and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink from 2025-2037.

Jane Anson

The main estate wine of Coralie de Boüard, showing polish and depth, with plenty of juice running through the palate, and notes of turmeric, clove, and white pepper spice. It leans into the vintage, with the confidence that comes from fresh clay-limestone soils.

Vertdevin

The nose is nicely fruity and vibrant, with intensity and a certain concentration/depth. It reveals notes of Mediterranean-style roasted cherry, small red berries and, more subtly, violet, alongside touches of wild blackberry, as well as fine hints of smoke, zan (anise), infusion and a discreet touch of pepper. The palate is equally well-crafted—fresh, mineral and balanced—with a lively, tangy framework, good definition, juiciness, suppleness and freshness. Notes of fleshy/juicy blackcurrant, crushed raspberry and elegant roasted small fruits come through, with touches of blueberry and blond tobacco, plus a fine almost bay-leaf note, infusion, and a discreet hint of zan and chocolate. Good length. This wine is fresh, indulgent and mellow, with an airy, finely creamy character.

Decanter

Juicy and bright, clearly quite tannic, with some graphite notes, a chalky and creamy texture, but a nice burst of fruit from start to finish. Concentrated but well handled, clean and direct, focused with purity. Excellent acidity really brings freshness and vitality, with the tannins adding some tension and restraint right now, but it feels well managed and will be very enjoyable once it has softened a little. HVE certified.

Le Figaro Vin

The grape juice character is still very present, underscored by a few vegetal notes, a hint of bacon and sweet spices. Very silky on the palate, with tannins that are already nicely integrated. Notes of small dark berries come through, along with a generous floral bouquet (peony, iris, violet) that brings delicacy to the wine’s texture. The finish is still slightly drying, with oak showing through.

Yves Beck

The bouquet of Clos de Boüard unfolds gradually, step by step. Initially somewhat shy, it reveals spicy nuances, then notes of liquorice and, finally, a touch of black berries. Slightly creamy on the attack, the wine is elegant, with fine-grained tannins that are perfectly integrated. Its structuring freshness adds definition and character, enhancing aromatic expression as well as the length of the finish. A flavoursome, refreshing wine.

Jean-Marc Quarin

Jean-Marc Quarin

Deep, purple color. An intense nose with fresh, ripe, vanilla-tinged fruit. Precise on the attack, this wine is beautifully built on the palate, with a full, velvety body, finishing long, flavorful and without any harsh tannic edge.

Description

A Montagne Saint-Émilion red wine that delights with its finesse and aromatic expression

The estate

Coralie de Boüard and her husband Loïc Maillet acquired Château Clos de Boüard, located in the satellite appellation Montagne Saint- Émilion, in 2016.

The vineyard

Château Clos de Boüard oversees a vineyard of 30 hectares. Approximately 40 years old, the vines are planted on south-facing clay-limestone slopes and produce a great Montagne Saint-Émilion wine.

Winemaking and ageing

Pre-fermentation maceration at 8-10 °C. Alcoholic fermentation. Maceration for 3 to 5 weeks. Malolactic fermentation in new barrels. Vinification by plot, with manual punching down. The wine was aged for 18 months in barrels (30% in new barrels and 36% in one-wine barrels).

Blend

Château Clos de Boüard 2022 is a blend of Merlot (85%), Cabernet Franc (10%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (5%).
