The Elegance and Minerality of a White Burgundy by Bruno Colin
The Estate
A fourth-generation member of a renowned winegrowing family from the Côte de Beaune in Burgundy (France), Bruno Colin founded his own estate in 2004, after ten years working on the family property. Today, he runs the estate with his wife Stéphanie from their base in Chassagne-Montrachet. The winemaker champions a minimalist, environmentally-friendly philosophy, seeking to express the unique identity of each terroir. Internationally recognised for the precision and balance of his wines, the estate embodies the contemporary excellence of the region.
The Vineyard
This Burgundy wine comes from a fragmented vineyard spread across several prestigious villages of the Côte de Beaune. The old vines thrive on clay-limestone soils typical of the region, lending both structure and minerality. The estate favours mechanical soil management, with regular ploughing, and is committed to a sustainable approach aiming for organic certification.
The Vintage
The year was marked by a particularly warm summer, but adequate rainfall prevented any water stress for the vines. The growing cycle saw rapid, dynamic growth, leading to optimal and exceptionally early ripening of the berries, which triggered harvest as early as the first days of September.
Winemaking and Aging
The hand-harvested grapes undergo a rigorous double sorting. After pneumatic pressing and cold settling to preserve freshness, fermentation begins with indigenous yeasts. This Bourgogne Chardonnay 2023 is then aged on fine lees for twelve months in 350-litre oak barrels, a small proportion of which are new. Finally, the wines are blended in stainless steel tanks for several months before being bottled and sealed with wax.
Grape Variety
100% Chardonnay.
