The Clos du Roi parcels are located below the Marcomanni site. Previously owned by the Duke of Burgundy, King Louis XI confiscated the land and assumed ownership following the death of Charles the Bold. Domaine Chanson owns 35% of the terroir (3 hectares). The 100% Pinot Noir is aged for 16 month in oak barrels. Domaine Chanson 2010 Beaune Premier Cru Clos du Roi displays a gorgeous ruby colour which quickly gives way to intense yet fine aromas. Notes of red fruits, prune, vanilla, and spices command the nose. The palate is ample and generous, with a bold blend of well-integrated tannins and delicate wood.
