Château d'Yquem
Being the absolute and unquestioned king of mellow wines, the Château d'Yquem imposes deeply its character to the Sauternes Appellation, set high up on its hillock in the heart of scenery which could as well be located in Tuscany. Subtle balance in between the 14th and the 17th century, d'Yquem remains a wonder to visit and a still holds a very important place in History: 400 years ago the de Lur Saluces Family built the reputation of this temple dedicated to bottled gold. Leading this premier cru exceptionnel embracing a hundred hectares of vines of Sémillon and Sauvignon, these grape varieties expressing themselves in a different an complex micro-climates and terroirs, the very discrete yet very famous Pierre Lurton is piloting this old sailing ship since 2004. Then, the LVMH Company owns it since 1999. In this Château, men and women, vintage after vintage became true experts in mastering the noble liquid gold. Transforming with so much intelligence the famous fungus, the Botrytis Cinirea into pure gold indeed requires expert skills.
