Created during a vintage of quite late harvest, 2008 Chateau Lafite-Rothschild Carruades de Lafite offers a generous aromatic expression. At sight, this 2e vin du Chateau Lafite-Rothschild displays a greatly dense robe of a purple-tinted bright red colour. On the nose, on top of pleasant red berries, smoky notes that remind of the gravelly characters of Lafite plots are really enjoyable. Carruades de Lafite is frank with a precise attack on the palate. On the mid-palate, the expression gradually intensifies and densifies. This Pauillac offers a good length on mild tannins. The whole is well-balanced and accessible in a vintage that is less dense than usual.
Wine Advocate-Parker :
A blend of 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and the rest Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, the 2008 exhibits graphite, sandalwood, black and red currant, chocolate and damp earth characteristics in its elegant, medium to full-bodied, fresh, lively personality. It is a delicious, luscious, already evolved wine to drink over the next 15+ years.
