La Charmotte parcel borders Premier Cru vineyards -Argilats and Bousselots- in the northern part of Nuits-Saint-Georges AOC. Chardonnay vines planted in 1962 grow on the 0.4 hectares (0.98 acres) vineyard. Thibault Liger-Belair’ 2011 Nuits-Saint-Georges Village La Charmotte reveals a shiny red colour and a young nose: raspberry and a smoky character. The palate is rich, intense, with a lovely energy, and great volume that leads to a pleasantly fresh finish. This Burgundy red should keep for another three to four years to complete the balance.
