Description
Characteristics and Tasting Tips for the 2024 Malbec from Terrazas de los Andes
Tasting notes
Colour
The wine displays a brilliant red hue.
Nose
Intensely fruity, the bouquet reveals aromas of ripe dark fruits such as blackberry and plum, intertwined with notes of fresh strawberry. Delicate floral touches of violet are complemented by hints of mountain spices.
Palate
Full and vibrant, the palate offers a silky texture thanks to perfectly integrated tannins. Beautifully fresh, it unfolds great aromatic complexity before stretching into a long, taut finish.
Food and wine pairings
This red wine from Argentina pairs wonderfully with grilled or roasted red meats, such as a fine cut of beef or lamb. It also goes very well with slow-cooked dishes in sauce, roasted vegetables with aromatic herbs, as well as hard or semi-hard cheeses.
Serving and cellaring
For optimal enjoyment, we recommend serving the 2024 Malbec at a temperature of 16°C. This wine can be enjoyed now, but will continue to develop favourably until around 2034.
A fresh and delicate high-altitude wine from Mendoza
The estate
Officially founded in 1996, the bodega Terrazas de los Andes is an essential reference in high-altitude viticulture in Argentina. Located in the Mendoza region, this estate of approximately 550 hectares belongs to the LVMH group, through its subsidiary Moët Hennessy. Now led by Lucas Löwi, the estate stands out for its pioneering approach to precision irrigation and its deep commitment to sustainability. Through its ambitious environmental programme, the estate cultivates its vines on terraces to produce mountain wines that combine freshness, elegance and respect for biodiversity.
The vineyard
The grapes for this cuvée come from a mosaic of more than one hundred plots located in the province of Mendoza, spread between the Uco Valley and the historic terroirs of Las Compuertas, in Luján de Cuyo. Reaching high altitudes, these mountain vines thrive on alluvial, stony soils. Irrigated with pure meltwater from the Andean glaciers, the vineyard is currently in full transition to organic farming, promoting biodiversity through cover crops and the absence of herbicides.
Vinification and ageing
To preserve optimal aromatic freshness and a moderate alcohol level, the 2024 Malbec was harvested early, during the month of March. The making of this wine relies on a rigorous selection and a meticulous blend of more than a hundred distinct plots, capturing all the complexity and purity of high-altitude terroirs.
