An exceptional Calvados with an oriental, smoky character
Maison Roger Groult, a family tradition since 1860
Founded in 1860 in the Calvados Pays d'Auge, Maison Roger Groult has perpetuated rare expertise for five generations. Established at Clos de la Hurvanière, the property covers 27 hectares of cider-apple orchards. Estelle Groult, the current owner and representative of the fifth generation, has been at the helm of this family Maison since 2022. Roger Groult’s distinctive feature lies in its double distillation over a wood fire, carried out in three small stills, and in its aging in old French “roux” oak barrels. The estate keeps more than 350 barrels, reflecting an artisanal approach and an unwavering pursuit of quality.
Calvados Doyen d'Âge, an exceptional blend
Calvados Doyen d'Âge represents Maison Groult’s most prestigious blend. Crafted exclusively from eaux-de-vie from the estate’s oldest aging cellar, this spirit is produced from Pays d'Auge cider apples. The double distillation over a wood fire, a traditional method upheld by the house, gives this Calvados its unique character and aromatic complexity.
Aging takes place in old French “roux” oak barrels, allowing the spirit to develop its signature brick-hued color and subtle aromas. Presented at 41% vol. in a specific bottle accompanied by a wooden case, Doyen d'Âge embodies excellence and the know-how passed down from generation to generation within this family house of the Pays d'Auge.
