Description
Characteristics and tasting advice for the 25-year-old Gordon & MacPhail Linkwood
Tasting
Nose
The nose reveals sweet sherry notes alongside a subtle hint of anise and cherries. A captivating citrus and floral freshness unfolds, enhanced by touches of vanilla, honey and lemon sorbet.
Palate
The attack is gentle and velvety, with notes of fruitcake and compote. The aromatic palette blossoms into flavors of gingerbread, honey and vanilla, complemented by milk chocolate, red fruits (blackcurrant, sour cherry), malted barley and shortbread-like pastry notes. Hints of citrus (grapefruit peel), apple tart, coffee, leather and tobacco add complexity. Rancio notes and passion fruit further enrich the whole. The texture is full and airy. The finish, long and persistent, stands out for its notes of oak, fruit and tobacco.
Food pairing and tasting occasions
This exceptional whisky is best enjoyed neat, with no embellishment, to fully appreciate the complexity brought by 25 years of aging.
The refinement of a 25-year-old single malt whisky
Linkwood, between tradition and innovation.
Since its founding in 1821, the Linkwood distillery, nestled in the heart of Scotland’s Speyside region, has been synonymous with superior-quality Scotch whisky. With nearly two centuries of history, Linkwood has stood the test of time, maintaining an unwavering passion for crafting an exceptional spirit that blends tradition and innovation.
For a long time, Gordon & MacPhail bottled many little-known Speyside single malts under license, including Linkwood. These bottles remain highly sought after by enthusiasts, who regard them as the official expressions and as those that best represent the style of this Scottish distillery.
