Description
Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Aloxe-Corton 2022 by Remoissenet Père et Fils
Tasting
Colour
This red wine displays a fairly light ruby hue, subtly highlighted with garnet reflections at the edge of the glass.
Nose
The bouquet opens with typical aromas of fresh red berries such as strawberry, raspberry and cherry, underscored by a delicate vegetal and fruity touch.
Palate
The attack is round and forthright, revealing a fine structure. The palate unfolds vibrant red fruit flavours that blend harmoniously with hints of coffee and dark chocolate. The tannins, present yet remarkably elegant, integrate seamlessly into the whole, delivering a persistent finish with lovely length.
Food and Wine Pairing
This wine pairs wonderfully with grilled or sauced red meats, such as a fine côte de bœuf or a steak. It is also an excellent match for roasted poultry, game such as venison or duck, and dishes featuring wild mushrooms or truffles. When it comes to cheese, opt for soft washed-rind varieties such as Époisses or Ami du Chambertin.
Service and Storage
With fine ageing potential, this Aloxe-Corton 2022 can be cellared and is ideally enjoyed through to around 2030.
The Authentic Expression of a Great Burgundy Terroir
The Estate
Founded in 1877 by Pierre-Alfred Remoissenet, the Remoissenet Père et Fils house is a historic institution located in the heart of Beaune. Acquired in 2005 by a consortium led by Edward Milstein, the current owner, the estate has undergone a genuine renaissance in quality. Today, the house relies on around 40 hectares of its own vineyards, cultivated according to organic and biodynamic principles. Under the direction of Bernard Repolt, this négociant-éleveur house stands out for its rigour, carefully selecting its grapes to produce wines that are authentic and true to their terroir.
The Vineyard
The Aloxe-Corton appellation forms a unique geographical link between the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune. The vines flourish at an altitude of between 200 and 300 metres. The reddish-brown soils are composed of flint-bearing limestone debris known locally as "chaillots", siliceous fragments, and loose soils particularly rich in phosphoric acid and potash, offering an ideal environment for growing vines.
The Vintage
2022 marked a return to relative calm, with a healthy harvest. This vintage was characterised by above-average seasonal temperatures and a slight rainfall deficit from the start of the growing cycle, creating a moderate and beneficial water stress. Above all, the year was marked by record sunshine, equivalent to an extra month of July, which allowed for exceptional berry ripening, despite a light frost episode in April that caused no major damage.
Winemaking and Aging
This wine is crafted with a resolutely minimal-intervention philosophy, allowing the terroir to express itself fully. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts in open wooden vats. The wine is then aged in large 350-litre French oak barrels, with the proportion of new oak adapted according to the cru. To preserve its full authenticity, the wine is neither fined nor filtered before bottling.
Grape Variety
Pinot Noir (100%).
