Description
A Burgundy wine that offers some of the most flavoursome gourmet nuances
The estate
Established in Puligny-Montrachet since 1635, the Leflaive family has perpetuated the tradition of fine Burgundy wines by offering one of the finest expressions of Chardonnay in the world. At the helm of a must-know estate in Burgundy, Olivier Leflaive has established himself as an emblematic figure of the Côte de Beaune. Olivier Leflaive was born in 1945, when his family owned a vineyard covering some twenty hectares. After taking over the running of the family-owned Leflaive estate, Oliver Leflaive founded Olivier Leflaive Frères in 1985, his own winemaking and ageing company and thus established himself as an "haute-couture" Burgundy wine merchant.
The vineyard
Olivier Leflaive's vineyard has been patiently built up and currently covers 17 hectares of vines, located on the greatest terroirs of Burgundy. The house also buys grapes from the best winegrowers in the Côte de Beaune. In total, Olivier Leflaive comprises 120 hectares of vines and produces fine white wines in the beautiful appellations of Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet and Meursault, as well as in Chablis and the Côte Chalonnaise.
Bourgogne Aligoté 2019 is made from vines that are 36 years old on average and located at an altitude of 230 metres in the villages of Puligny-Montrachet and Corpeau. The soil is clay-limestone and clay-silt.
Vinification and ageing
Following the harvest, 80% of the grapes are hand-picked and 20% are meticulously pressed with pneumatic presses. 80% of the grapes are crushed and 20% are destemmed. The wine is fined and filtered. Lastly, it is aged for 10 months in 15% barrels and 85% vats.
