Description
Characteristics and Tasting Notes of the Gewurztraminer 2022 Maison Trimbach
Tasting Notes
Color
A luminous pale golden-yellow hue, enhanced by subtle green highlights, defines this wine.
Nose
Wonderfully elegant, the aromatic bouquet exudes intense scents of lychee and rose petal, harmoniously rounded out by delicate citrus notes.
Palate
This dry, medium-bodied white wine offers a crisp palate with lovely freshness. Structured and driven by fruit, it reveals a perfect balance thanks to well-judged acidity, extending into a lively, dynamic finish.
Food and Wine Pairing
This wine pairs wonderfully with spicy dishes and Asian cuisine, such as Thai curry or tandoori preparations. It also perfectly complements traditional specialties such as tarte flambée, choucroute garnie or Munster cheese, as well as roasted poultry, smoked fish or egg-based dishes.
Serving and Cellaring
For optimal enjoyment, this Gewurztraminer 2022 should be served well chilled, at a temperature between 4 and 6°C, in a classic white wine glass. Decanting is not necessary. This wine is best enjoyed young to fully appreciate its aromatic brilliance, and can be cellared until around 2027.
The Balance and Aromatic Richness of an Alsace White Wine from Maison Trimbach
The Estate
Founded in 1626 in Ribeauvillé, Maison Trimbach is a true institution in Alsace. This family estate, which spans 61 hectares of owned vines and 80 hectares under partnership, is now run by the thirteenth generation. Following the passing of Pierre Trimbach, technical direction is now overseen by his nephew Julien Trimbach, supported by Jean Trimbach and other family members. Certified organic since 2023 and named "Brand of the Year" in 2025 by La Revue du Vin de France, the estate stands out for its philosophy centered on achieving absolute balance in its wines.
The Vineyard
Located in the heart of Alsace, on the geological fault line of Ribeauvillé, the vineyard benefits from a dry, sunny semi-continental climate, sheltered by the Vosges mountains. The vines, averaging 45 years of age, are planted at high density on a mosaic of soils composed of marl, limestone, sandstone and clay. The estate practices certified organic viticulture, promoting biodiversity through tree planting, the installation of birdhouses and winter eco-grazing with sheep.
The Vintage
The year 2022 followed the trend of previous vintages, with a particularly hot and dry summer season. Despite these demanding weather conditions, the growing cycle produced grapes of remarkable quality, yielding musts of exceptional brightness and precision.
Winemaking and Aging
The grapes for this Gewurztraminer 2022 are harvested entirely by hand by a dedicated team, who carry out a rigorous selection of the bunches. To preserve all the freshness and quality of the fruit, the grapes are transported to the winery as quickly as possible. Vinification follows the dry, precise and focused style that defines the estate, with minimal intervention, allowing the true identity of the terroir to fully express itself.
Grape Variety
100% Gewürztraminer.
