Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Puligny-Montrachet 2024 Louis Latour

Tasting

Colour
White in colour, the wine reveals a luminous pale yellow hue with delicate green highlights.

Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with notes of tropical fruit, ripe peach and quince. It then develops mineral and spicy nuances.

Palate
The attack is round and approachable, revealing delicious fruity touches. The whole is perfectly balanced by a lovely acidity, leading to a long, taut finish marked by mineral precision and subtle spicy notes.

Food and Wine Pairing

This wine pairs wonderfully with seafood such as oysters or shellfish, as well as delicate fish like poached sole. It also perfectly accompanies cheeses, particularly Chaource, or dishes based on cream and gratins.

Service and Storage

For optimal enjoyment, it is recommended to serve the Puligny-Montrachet 2024 between 11 and 13°C. This wine can be enjoyed now, but it will continue to develop favourably in bottle and can be drunk until around 2029.

Other Characteristics

This wine has an alcohol content of 13.5%.

The Mineral Precision and Freshness of a Puligny-Montrachet Wine

The Estate

Officially founded in 1797 in Beaune, Maison Louis Latour is a true institution in Burgundy. Its historic heart lies in the village of Aloxe-Corton. This independent family estate, a member of the prestigious Hénokiens club, oversees a vineyard of around fifty hectares, including the largest area of Grands Crus in the region. Today, Florent Latour leads the estate, carrying on the legacy of the eleventh generation. The house is distinguished by its commitment to sustainable farming and its ability to combine centuries-old tradition with a spirit of innovation.

The Vineyard

The terroir from which this Puligny-Montrachet originates spreads across east- and southeast-facing slopes, at an altitude ranging between 230 and 320 metres. The vines flourish on complex soils composed of brown limestone, marl and clay. The estate favours sustainable farming, certified ISO 14001, aimed at preserving biodiversity and soil health through limited intervention and hand-harvesting.

The Vintage

2024 was marked by unusual weather, with heavy rainfall accompanied by episodes of frost and hail. Despite these challenging conditions requiring rigorous work in the vineyards, the later harvest in late September made it possible to achieve beautifully ripe grapes, yielding wines of great freshness.

Winemaking and Ageing

After careful sorting, whole clusters are gently pressed. The Puligny-Montrachet 2024 ferments in traditional oak barrels, including a complete malolactic fermentation. Ageing then lasts eight to ten months in French oak barrels with a medium toast, made by the estate's own cooperage, with 15% new wood. Regular rackings are carried out during this period.

Grape Variety

This wine is made exclusively from Chardonnay.
