A generous and complex Premier Cru white Burgundy
The estate
Founded in 1797 by Jean Latour in Burgundy, the Maison Louis Latour carries on a family expertise dating back to 1731. Managed by the Latour family for several generations, this Burgundian estate cultivates a total of 50 hectares, including 33 hectares in Aloxe-Corton on the prestigious climats of the Côte de Beaune, notably Corton-Charlemagne. The Latours stand out for their cooperage heritage and their château Corton Grancey, featuring a historic vat house built in 1834, exporting their Burgundy grands crus internationally since the early 19th century.
The vineyard
The "Les Referts" climat is located on the lower part of the slope of Puligny-Montrachet, between "Les Perrières" and "Les Charmes", enjoying an ideal southeast exposure. The vines thrive on limestone and scree soils characteristic of this appellation renowned for producing the world's greatest Chardonnays. Manual harvesting ensures optimal grape quality.
Vinification and aging
Traditionally vinified in oak barrels with complete malolactic fermentation. Aging takes place over 8 to 10 months in medium-toast French oak barrels, 50% of which are new from the Louis Latour cooperage, imparting complexity and structure to the wine.
Grape variety
This Premier Cru is made exclusively from Chardonnay, the emblematic grape variety of Burgundy's great White wines.
