A Powerful and Harmonious Echezeaux Grand Cru

The Estate
Established in 1797 in Aloxe-Corton, the Louis Latour House has remained an independent, family-owned estate for eleven generations. Under the leadership of Florent Latour, with Eléonore Latour set to succeed him, it farms around 120 hectares of vineyards in Burgundy, including 67 to 70 hectares of Grands Crus, making it the region’s largest owner of Grand Cru parcels. A pioneer in planting Chardonnay in Corton-Charlemagne after phylloxera, the Louis Latour House combines its status as an exceptional wine estate with that of a renowned Burgundy négociant.

The Vineyard
This Echézeaux comes from a remarkable parcel located above Clos Vougeot, between Vosne-Romanée and Vougeot in the Côte de Nuits. This historic terroir once belonged to the Abbaye de Cîteaux. The vineyard benefits from varied, complex soils made up of clay, chalk and gravel, with an east-facing exposure. The vines have an average age of 40 years, and average yields stand at 35 hectoliters per hectare. Harvesting is carried out by hand.

Vinification and Aging
The vinification of Echézeaux Grand Cru 2023 follows a traditional method in open vats with full malolactic fermentation. Aging takes place over 10 to 12 months in 100% new French oak barrels from the Louis Latour cooperage, with a medium toast.

Grape Variety
This red wine from Burgundy is made from 100% Pinot Noir.
