Description

Characteristics and tasting notes of the Chambolle-Musigny Village 2024 Louis Latour

Tasting

Colour
The colour reveals a deep ruby hue with garnet highlights.

Nose
The nose reveals an aromatic bouquet dominated by notes of red and black berries such as cherry, raspberry, blackcurrant and blackberry, subtly underscored by hints of liquorice and clove.

Palate
Full-bodied and wonderfully fresh, the palate seduces with its silky texture and velvety tannins. The fruity expression pairs beautifully with delicate spicy notes, extending into a remarkably persistent finish marked by fine minerality.

Food and wine pairing

This wine pairs wonderfully with delicate meats such as slow-roasted lamb or fine poultry like capon. It also perfectly complements soft-rind cheeses such as Reblochon or Brillat-Savarin.

Service and storage

For optimal tasting, this wine should be served at a temperature between 15 and 17°C. This Chambolle-Musigny Village 2024 can be enjoyed while young, but it will continue to evolve favourably, drinking well until around 2031.

Other characteristics

This wine has an alcohol content of 13.5%.

The elegance and finesse of a red wine from Chambolle-Musigny

The estate

Officially founded in 1797 in Aloxe-Corton, Maison Louis Latour is a true institution in Burgundy. This historic estate stands out for owning the largest area of Grand Cru-classified vineyards in the region. Uniquely, the estate has had its own cooperage for over two centuries and is committed to sustainable viticulture certified under ISO 14001. Today, family continuity is ensured by Florent Latour, the current managing director, supported by Eléonore Latour, representing the twelfth generation.

The vineyard

This wine comes from the Chambolle-Musigny appellation, located on the slopes of the Côte de Nuits. The vines, averaging around thirty years of age, thrive on soils composed of limestone, marl and clay. This distinctive terroir, harvested by hand, offers ideal drainage while retaining the moisture needed for the vines to develop properly.

The vintage

2024 proved particularly challenging, marked by episodes of spring frost, hailstorms and heavy rainfall in September. These complex and generally cooler weather conditions led to a significant drop in yields, while also limiting sugar accumulation in the berries.

Winemaking and aging

The Chambolle-Musigny Village 2024 is vinified in the traditional manner in open vats, using exclusively indigenous yeasts. Manual punching down is carried out daily to ensure gentle extraction during a 12- to 15-day maceration period. The wine is then aged for 10 to 12 months in medium-toast French oak barrels from the estate's own cooperage. The proportion is 20% new barrels and 80% used barrels, in order to preserve the full delicacy of the fruit.
