Located in the heart of the Pauillac appellation, the Chateau Pontet-Canet vineyard stretches over 80 hectares and is mainly composed of Cabernet Sauvignon vines. The Second Wine of the Chateau, Les Hauts de Pontet-Canet, is produced from young vines of the estate. The 2004 Les Hauts de Pontet-Canet is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot.
The wine displays an intense red colour. The very complex nose expresses a well-mastered ageing in wood, with grilled and vanilla- flavoured fruit aromas, perfectly balanced by fruity hints. On the palate, the 2004 Les Hauts de Pontet-Canet offers a round attack which develops on a superb tannic structure. The finish is sweet.
