A Haut-Médoc Second Wine with seductive balance and aromatic richness
The estate
Château Sociando-Mallet is an 83-hectare estate overlooking the Gironde estuary. This property on the Left Bank of Bordeaux produces some of the finest unclassified wines of the Médoc.
The vineyard
The vines, which average 25 years of age, are planted on a terroir of gravel and clay over a limestone subsoil. The vineyard is farmed traditionally, without anti-botrytis treatments, and with a careful selection and judicious use of organic soil amendments.
The wine
Produced in the Haut-Médoc appellation, La Demoiselle de Sociando-Mallet 2021 is the château's Second Wine. This cuvée takes its name from a species of damselfly found in the Médoc.
Vinification and ageing
The grapes are harvested by hand and sorted on tables before and after destemming. Traditional vinification and malolactic fermentation take place in temperature-controlled concrete and stainless steel vats. The maceration lasts 25 days. This Bordeaux wine is aged in new barrels (30%) for 12 months.
Blend
La Demoiselle de Sociando Mallet 2021 is a cuvée crafted from a blend of Merlot (84%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (16%).
