Description
Characteristics and tasting notes of the Terres Dorées "Grille Midi" 2022
Tasting
Color
The color reveals a deep ruby hue, adorned with subtle bluish highlights that reflect its youth.
Nose
Complex and layered, the aromatic bouquet exudes scents of red fruits such as cherry, raspberry, and strawberry. Delicate floral notes reminiscent of rose and violet intertwine with hints of sweet spices, licorice, and a fine mineral thread.
Palate
With a medium-bodied structure, this French red wine offers a vibrant freshness carried by bright acidity. The velvety texture reveals a pure fruity expression of raspberry and strawberry, complemented by herbaceous nuances and a typical minerality evoking graphite and crushed rock. Fine, elegant tannins support a lingering finish with hints of licorice.
Food and wine pairing
Highly versatile, this wine pairs wonderfully with herb-roasted poultry, quail served with a reduction, or braised pork stew. It also enhances regional dishes such as charcuterie, offal-based preparations, as well as meaty fish like salmon in an herb crust.
Service and storage
Thanks to its fine tannic structure and vibrancy, the Terres Dorées "Grille Midi" 2022 has excellent aging potential, allowing it to evolve favorably over the years.
Other characteristics
This wine is bottled without fining or filtration, preserving its full aromatic and textural integrity. It may therefore show a slight natural sediment.
The elegance and minerality of a great Fleurie wine
The estate
Founded in 1979 by Jean-Paul Brun, who remains its owner today, Domaine des Terres Dorées is a leading reference in Beaujolais. Originally located in Charnay with just four hectares, the estate now spans more than sixty hectares across several prestigious crus. Jean-Paul Brun distinguished himself through his pioneering vision, favoring sustainable viticulture and traditional Burgundian winemaking methods. His respectful approach to terroir and his rejection of industrial standards have greatly contributed to the region's qualitative renaissance.
The vineyard
This wine comes from a six-hectare plot located in the famous Grille Midi lieu-dit, within the Fleurie appellation. This exceptional terroir forms a south-facing amphitheater, offering optimal sun exposure. The vines, over sixty years old, grow in poor, sandy soils of decomposed granite resting on granitic bedrock. Cultivated using sustainable practices, this terroir naturally limits yields, thereby promoting an exceptional concentration in the berries.
The vintage
The 2022 vintage was marked by mild weather conditions that allowed for generous yields. The growing cycle offered ideal conditions for a late harvest, ensuring optimal ripeness of the berries while preserving good natural acidity, without excessive heat.
Winemaking and aging
The hand-harvested grapes undergo rigorous sorting followed by destemming. Fermentation of the Terres Dorées "Grille Midi" 2022 takes place in concrete vats using indigenous yeasts, with an extended maceration of about one month. Aging then continues for eight months, combining the use of concrete vats and old oak barrels.
