Description

Characteristics and tasting tips for the Saint-Aubin 1er Cru "Perrières" 2025 by Jean Chartron

Tasting

Appearance
The wine reveals a white colour.

Nose
The aromatic bouquet shows lovely complexity, blending scents of citrus, white flowers and white- and yellow-fleshed fruit. Subtle mineral and stony touches combine elegantly with delicate oak.

Palate
Endowed with an energetic structure, the palate stands out for its lively acidity and saline, ferrous minerality. There is perfect balance between lovely density, restrained richness and a long, precise finish.

Serving and cellaring
This Saint-Aubin 1er Cru "Perrières" 2025 has excellent ageing potential and can be cellared for several years to reveal its full complexity.

The tension and purity of a great white Burgundy

The estate
Based in Puligny-Montrachet, in the heart of Burgundy in France, Domaine Jean Chartron was founded in 1859 by Jean-Edouard Dupard, a cooper by trade. He left his mark on local history by having the name "Montrachet" added to the village's name in 1873. Today, Jean-Michel Chartron, representing the fifth generation, runs the estate. He carries on a long-standing family tradition while making the most of an exceptional array of plots covering around 14.50 hectares. The domaine is renowned for its ability to express purity of fruit and the distinctive character of its terroirs.

The vineyard
The terroir of the "Perrières" climat, located in the commune of Saint-Aubin, stretches across a hillside with a sunny south- and south-east-facing exposure. The vines thrive on high-altitude clay-limestone soils, which give the berries natural freshness and pronounced minerality. Here, the domaine farms a small plot of around 0.20 hectares with an environmentally respectful approach, encouraging biodiversity and keeping yields low to ensure optimal concentration in the grapes.

Winemaking and ageing
The Saint-Aubin 1er Cru "Perrières" 2025 is the result of meticulous plot-by-plot management and hand harvesting. Vinification takes place entirely in oak barrels, around a quarter of which are new. Ageing on fine lees is carried out with precision to round out the wine and give it breadth, without ever masking the identity of the terroir or the purity of the fruit.
